Custom Design Hiatus

Things are growing and shifting in my little studio. So to make big moves in 2018, I’m making some changes this spring.

The biggest change is:

I am taking an indefinite hiatus from custom designed jewelry.

At first glance this sounds a little crazy (and even a little scary!) So I wanted to take a moment to explain what this means and why it’s important for me.

I have loved creating custom pieces ever since my little brand first spread its wings. It has helped me grow. It’s challenged my design abilities and given me the chance to hear what is important to clients in their rings. Lately, about half of my time is spent working on custom pieces. You’ve kept me busy, and for that I am so grateful!

But the problem is that I’m a small studio, and there are only so many hours in the day. In addition to bridal rings, I also create a full jewelry collection that sells on this very site and through retailers around the country. It’s a lot to manage.

I realized that with my current business model there was a limit to the number of people that I could work with. I simply ran out of time and energy. I knew it was time for a change.

My Vision

I’ve been plotting this new bridal direction for a solid year. Last fall I introduced a comprehensive offering of wedding rings and diamond eternity bands. This year I’ll bring that same element of customization to my engagement rings.

I’m creating a larger catalog of engagement rings for clients to choose from. This will continue to offer the one-of-a-kind rings that my clients love, but it will also include rings that can be customized by selecting your precious metal and gemstone of choice.

This wider selection will allow me to create more rings by not having to return to the drawing board every time.

What projects will I still take on?

If you’ve been on the fence about starting a custom piece with me, you might be wondering if it’s still possible. I’ll still be creating customized pieces for my clients, but from here on out they can only be a slight variation from my current styles.

Yes

  • My design in other metals or surface textures
  • My design for other stone shapes
  • My design with a different band width
  • My design with alternate gemstones or a different size/number of accent stones (but only diamond, sapphire, opaque diamond)
  • My design with alterations to stack next to other rings

No

  • Any project requiring artist renderings for your approval
  • A ring from your own drawing
  • A ring inspired by images you’ve found on the internet

Once the new collection launches, will I resume custom design?

Only time will tell.

If so, custom design will become a premium offering with limited slots in my calendar and a price tag that reflects the time and attention to detail that this bespoke design demands.

As always, I want to thank you for your understanding and continued support. I wouldn’t be able to grow and design amazing new products without you. I can’t wait to show you what I have in store.
