    Labradorite Silver Iris Necklace #4

    $460.00

The Iris necklace pairs my signature Aurora pendant with an enchanting labradorite in an elegant composition. A hand-engraved sterling silver sunburst medallion featuring a sparkling recycled white diamond centers the design, while below, a round rose cut labradorite set in a smooth silver bezel flashes with mystical blue light.

The chain threads through the Aurora to create a pendant that effortlessly slides, perfect for layering. The labradorite's ethereal flashes dance like northern lights captured in stone, shifting with every movement. Suspended on a delicate sterling silver cable chain, this handcrafted piece transitions beautifully from everyday elegance to special occasions.

    About Diamond

    Birthstone: April

    Anniversary: 10th, 60th

From the Greek "adamas" meaning "unconquerable," diamonds truly live up to their name as the hardest natural substance on Earth. Formed over 100 miles below the surface through immense pressure and heat, these nearly pure carbon crystals rank a perfect 10 on the Mohs scale. The legendary Cullinan diamond, discovered in South Africa in 1905, weighed an astounding 3,106 carats and was cut into nine magnificent stones now adorning the British Crown Jewels.

Ancient Romans believed diamonds were tears of gods or fragments of falling stars, with Cupid's arrows tipped in their brilliance. Medieval cultures thought they could cure everything from fatigue to mental illness. Today, diamonds continue to represent eternal love and unbreakable bonds, perfect for heirloom pieces that celebrate life's most precious moments with unmatched sparkle and durability.

    About Labradorite

Labradorite gets its name from the Labrador Peninsula in Canada, where Moravian missionaries first documented the stone in 1770. This feldspar gem is prized for its "labradorescence," a striking optical effect where flashes of iridescent blue, green, gold, and sometimes purple seem to move across the surface as the stone catches the light. Unlike gems with a consistent play of color, labradorite can look completely plain from one angle and burst into vivid flash the moment it's tilted, making each piece feel a little different depending on how the light hits it.

Inuit legend holds that the Northern Lights were once trapped inside a labradorite boulder along the coast, until a warrior struck the stone with his spear and freed most of the lights into the sky, leaving the rest sealed within the rock forever. Beyond Labrador, the stone is also mined in Madagascar, Finland (where a particularly vivid variety is called spectrolite), and parts of Russia and Scandinavia. Its combination of everyday durability and a genuinely eye-catching flash makes labradorite a great choice for pieces meant to feel a little different every time you put them on.

    Jewelry Care for this Item

Bezel-set transparent gemstones require special care to maintain their clarity. Key guidelines:

    • Remove before water exposure (showering, bathing, swimming)
    • Water trapped under the bezel creates cloudiness and tarnishing
    • Store in a dry location when not wearing

Water is the primary concern for bezel-set gems, as it can become trapped and cause permanent clouding. For comprehensive care instructions, see our jewelry care guide.
